Jun. 16th, 2009 @ 11:03 pm Braodband Tax
Yes its true, the UK Government is proposing a broadband tax of £6 per year to upgrade British telecoms infrastructure. I say tax because there’s a fat chance the annual fee will be dropped once the upgrades are completed.

But what annoys me most of all is that in five years time when the upgrades are alleged to be completed, at least half the population will no longer be using telephone lines to access the internet as wireless WAN (cell networks) will be fully developed for reliable high speed internet/networking and using ADSL and home WIFI will be a thing of the past. This is yet another stealth tax -.-

While driving through Yorkshire on a rather unsuccessful urban exploring day out. I spotted a pub called 'The Fox And Grapes'. The pub sign just totally made my day!!! I wanna take him home!!!! ^____^

Since being concerned about Global warming and not giving a crap about other environmental issues is all the rage right now, I decided to try the very swarve Co2 calculator on the direct gov website.

Apparently I'm responsible for 5.74 tones of plant food Co2 each year which is 1.49 tones over the national average. Of course like the people who invent all this bullcrap the website didn't consider the full picture and my greatest producer of Co2 (travel) consists of 90% biodiesel (co2 neutral) transport.

One of the most hilarious suggestions I hear is that my 15 year old car is old, dirty and bad for the environment and I should consider buying a brand new car with 'lower' emissions. Because buying a new car that does 5mpg better than mine is really great news, the fact that the pollution caused manufacturing the new car far outweighs any economy savings in swapping cars is simply brushed under the carpet.

My holiday gave me time to draw lots of junk in my sketch book. Some I'm going to color so I haven't included but heres a collection of stuff from my 'latest' sketch pad although a few are quite old. Theres are mostly just practice junks that will never do anything with.

Back from Tenerife. What a blast! I've not been that relaxed in a long time. The weather was beautiful, I left home in thick snow and got there to sun sea and sand. I just wish i had longer out there.

This is my last week before returning to Sheepland Wales and work at the Hostel. I do feel a little annoyed with myself that I didn't get more done in my time off, but some how I knew this would happen. I did however have time while on holiday to sit down and get some good decent sketches done in my sketch books. I'm quite amazed at the quality of art I can produce when not surrounded by my normal everyday distractions.
I've also got some good urban exploration in and finally found some reliable people to do it with. The past few weeks I've been to some totally breathtaking places so I thought I'd share a few pics!

Oh Btw, Eurofurence registration opened and was booked out within an hour or so (sad). I didn't register so won't see you there!

I'm on holiday again staying with Marlon and my parents at their villa in Tenerife. I haven't been here for over 5 years. A lots changed here and for me in that time. But its good to be back and feel some nice warm sunshine, go swimming in the sea and pool and generally laze under the sun. Not much else to say right but heres a photo I took today of the view from our villa. Sorry about the crummy joins, the photoshop on my eeeeeeeepc is rather rubbish!

Been a while since I updated here and quite a lot has been going on recently! First of all arties ^^ Clicky!! This is my part of a trade with Mahrkale. I just love her art!

Abandoned Morgue

So I've finished work at the Hostel in Wales until March, since then I've mostly been just exploring more abandoned places with my friends and being totally lazy.

Autopsy table in an abandoned Hospital

I randomly decided to book a holiday somewhere, anywhere! I eventually decided Spain would be nice so I booked a cheap flight to Malaga and well, here I am!

Unfortunately I forgot my camera lead so can't upload pictures. I'm staying in a great Hostel about 2km from the center of the city. The hostel is more like a home and theres free WIFI huuuuuge tv and kitchen.

The weathers beautiful, I couldn't ask for more from the Spanish winter and its sunny and warm enough so stroll around town in just a t-shirt and I even went to the beach ^^ Today I visited the beautiful city castle which has some wonderful gardens in the grounds. Then it was off to the Picasso museum. I'm sure some people think he was a great artist but well, some of his works were like drawings of a 3 year old bleahh! It was still nice though!

Due to the pound being to weak against the Euro I decided to buy food at the supermarket and cook stuffs at the hostel rather than eating out. The supermarkets are pretty good and much bigger than the shoe box stores I'm used to in Germany. Also the whole country doesn't close on Sunday.

Thats it for now, in Spain and loving it!

Its quite odd really. The thought of picking up a pencil and drawing something seems like a chore indeed..
But then I'm quite happy to get in my car with my camera, drive off to some abandoned place, risk life and limb getting inside not to mention dodging security to take some pictures of it.

Surely because of this I can't blame not drawing on being too lazy? Its like a voice in my head, "thou will not draw".. sad

Gosh its snowing!! Lots!
I haven't known snow this early in years :D

Winters defiantly arrived. Clocks gone back so it goes dark as stupid'o clock.

My favorite time of year is spring and I hate fall! Ironic really. Ask people what their favorite time of year is and many say Autumn. Yet everyone I know seems to be miserable at the moment apart from me because of the short daylight hours and weather. Why the heck would anyone like autumn? Well in this country anyway. Everything dies, ends.. it gets dark and cold.

At least I get to play in the white stuff this afternoon :D

Back in rainy Wales from Eurofurence. I have a wonderful sore throat.. Apparently someone at the con gave lots of people lurge which was nice...

This year I went to the con with Lev and Redmoor. I'd like to copy the same post everyone else puts up about cons and say "oh it was awesome" but it wasn't. Not to say it was bad either indeed the con was about what I expected. Unfortunately even maintaining a speed of over 100mph on the Autobahn didn't ensure we arrived in time for the opening ceremony or bbq. This year it was nice to see some of my furry hero's there such as Duncan roo and Jedd. The weather behaved itself for most of the time and I even got a tan!

I figured that as I had paid for the extra day 'dead dogs party' at the hotel I simply would not survive the endurance of 4 days stuck at the con site so planned a day to Berlin to investigate the Beelitz abandoned hospital and 1930's Olympic village. They really added a bit of colour to the holiday.
The con itself was the same as any other year with an assortment of mostly monotonous sigs and stage shows consisting of looking at the back of someone’s head. I spent most of the con wandering or sitting in the bar area with people I didn't really know that well. I really feel that more effort should be made to arrange day trips outside the confines of the con but that’s just of course my opinion.

The food was fairly crappy this year and I found myself making trips to Lidl and bringing food back to eat in the room. Despite having no warning from the EF website or via mail on arrival we we're warned not to plug any electrical devices into the room plug's or they would be confiscated! An utterly ridiculous rule which was rectified by simply not allowing room service into the room.

We missed our flight home because of a massive crash on the Autobahn which delayed us by 2 hours and had to fork out 230euros for another flight. Because I really have that sort of money to play with right now -.-

They have just announced that Eurofurence will be held for the 3rd year at the same hotel. That certainly made my deciding if I will be going again a whole lot more easy. I survived another EF but each year it seems a little less special. Time to move on...

I’ve been back in work again for just over a month now working back at the Hostel in the welsh mountains. Very little has changed here its really like I haven’t left. It’s great to finally have some money coming in again to feed my starved bank account.

There’s been quite a lot of snow on the peaks recently and a few days ago me and some friends climbed the Glyders just a few miles from here. I’ve been up to soooo much in the past few weeks I can’t possibly list it all. I’m totally dizzy ^^ And I have hundreds of things pencilled in already for the next few months.
